The Weather Cyprus is the largest island in the eastern Mediterranean. Due to its proximity to southwest Asia, it is also one of the hottest parts of the region. Summers are hot or warm (depending on altitude) and almost completely rainless from late May to mid-September. During this period the weather is constant from day to day and almost completely cloudless. Lefkosia daytime temperatures are very high in midsummer and can reach as high as 44°c. The evenings and nights however, feel cooler than on the coast and average out at 18°c. Cyprus is a very sunny island even in winter, although Lefkosia has relatively wet and cool winters. During spring and autumn, the island usually experiences settled weather for two or three weeks, with brief interruptions of stormy wet weather. [ further information ]
